We All Need A Leg Up Once In Awhile.

Everyone feels overwhelmed at certain times in their life. Everyone needs to hear, “You can do it”, “I care”, everyone needs a Helping Hand or kind word. Reach out to those in need, you never know the difference it could make in that person’s life or yours. We All have something to give the world, even if it is just a hand to hold, an ear to listen, or a heart to share. You don’t have to change the world, but you just might. As survivors of abuse I feel it is our responsibility to help others going through it and educate the rest of society. The only thing that will end domestic violence is educating people and ending the silence. Silence perpetuates the problem and enables the abuser.

Silence DOES perpetuate the problem, it does. I regret to this day my sister Diana answering teachers etc she “walked into a door” (how could anyone do that…) when she got that black eye from dad. Ridiculous the teachers believed it. But what if, what IF she responded, “My father punched me in the face”.

    Silence is the killer.

I agree – I won’t let my ex scare me anymore. Woman should be helping each other – warning each other. I want to help others that were in my situation so much. What hasn’t killed me has certainly made me stronger. Never cover for a abuser – it doesn’t help them or others. Stand up and speak out

Laura, its so good to hear a woman be strong after leaving an N. It IS so painful but it does make you stronger. Have you found you appreciate life, people, the simple pleasures more? Everyday I am so thankful for all I have and to be free of that oppression, fear, chaotic life.

Yes, the only way to end abuse is to stop making the victim feel like they are the ones with the problem and place the blame where it belongs. I know some women are afraid to voice what happened to them for fear of retaliation from the ex but they can always speak out anonymously here and on other sites.

I as you are determined to leave my Mark on the world by not shutting up about it.

      Hugs Laura
