Happy 4th of July!!

statue of liberty

The 4th of July is an American holiday, but we all should be celebrating it with fireworks, hot dogs, potato salad, apple pie and a few good stiff drinks, because the fourth of July is

Whatever stage of recovery you are in right now, I promise you that this is

a day worth celebrating!

To all survivors of abuse,

congratulations on your independence from oppression, servitude, torture, financial abuse, mental anguish, and having your beliefs and feelings ignored.

You are free to live the life you deserve

anyway you choose to live it.

No more will you be told what to wear, what and when to eat

What to spend your money on or when and how you will have sex

your opinion WILL matter and your boundaries WILL be respected

because you will make sure  they are.

This is even more significant because look at these stats,

Good old USA is always at the top of the stats, by a long shot and then it is always the UK and Canada and Australia right behind. I know that it has to do with the size of the US and it’s population and that makes the UK coming in second really scary!!

Freedom is the same whether it has to do with a race, a country politics, work or in the privacy of our homes. No one deserves to be treated less than an equal, with equal rights, equal respect and equal power to voice their opinions and set their boundaries.

It is hard to soar like an eagle when you fly with seagulls. make sure you associate with people who allow you to soar like an eagle, people who inspire you to reach new heights and be all that you can be.

You are out of the cage now, sing! spread your wings and fly! and celebrate independence day!!

What a wonderful tribute you wrote Carrie! Our Canadian friends have always been the nicest neighbors. It’s been great seeing greetings for our Independence day from around the world! I never expected it to be acknowledged elsewhere!

Canadians sure have a lot of holidays…some of which I’ve never heard of until today. Boxing Day sounds interesting! Some we share, which is wonderful!

You’ve not said much lately…which means either things are likely going very badly or very good.. iwhich if that were the case, you’d probably let us know if the news were good…so you are probably still struggling , and trying not to worry us!

I think you often, and I wish you the very best that life has to offer. Sending prayers and best wishes your way! Hugs…OM

The way I understand it, Boxing Day is a day for servants and trades people to receive gifts in Christmas boxes! And here I thought it had something to do with two fighters beating each other up. Don’t you all have some kind of holiday that involves eating SPAM (the luncheon meat? One day, I must look into more countries traditions and holidays! It is good to learn about other people/’s cultures.

I hope you had a really good 4th July. Its always nice to think of someone like yourself who has struggled in her time, having a day to chill with friends and family and eat one or five of those great American hot dogs which make me feel so hungry just by typing out the words 🙂

Peter, thank you. here in canada we celebrate on July 1st. I wish we celebrated like they do in the US, us Canadians don’t do it up like they do. it was just another day up here basically. Some people use it as an excuse to get drunk, we usually have fireworks but there are so many fires burning in western Canada right now I don’t think anyone dared set off a display.
Thank you for the warm thoughts. I would love to someday share some American hotdogs with you, maybe we could persuade kim to cook us up some!?
